The Return of the Fallen_2 by richardcgreen The Return of the Fallen_2 by richardcgreen
This is a political commentary on the horrors
of war in general ~ and Iraq specifically. I simply
felt the colors needed to be de-saturated
a bit. Sometimes my Satuate-O-Meter is just
set to a rather high octane...and I eventually hate it!

Original watercolor, on 140lb d'Arches etc etc

THANKS Again!!
It's one of my saddest pieces,
although to most, it seems happy
with all the bright colors. etc.

That's true, most people read bright colors as happy colors , but in my opinion shape is also very important. I mean - those shapes at the center of Your work for example. They're not delicate, They have some kind of pain inside - that's how I see it. ;)

Yes, those shapes are the dead, the fallen in a worthless war,
now covered over by an anonymous shroud, to a land where they will
have already been forgotten. That represents a lot of 'pain inside.'
Especially for their families.

I truly appreciate your follow-up comments!

Really deep subject to talk about. I think You show it in really amazing way. It's hard for me to explain in english what I'm thinking, but I really appreciate Your work!

THANK you for attempting the English.
You do quite well ~ obviously a difficult subject
for any language. Fortunately, most of my
works a far more suggestive of HUMOR than
of tragedy!!! I'm not a particularly bitter OR
political person. Just wish I could play chess
better...and find a tennis partner.
Thanks for your devout appreciation!!!

Best wishes: Richard

AS is said in English, one might say I
Wear my Heart on My Sleeve. ie: I have no
trouble expressing my emotions. Comes from
my mum!

Thanks for writing...
