The End of the Road by richardcgreen The End of the Road by richardcgreen
The Quixote and Sancho have wandered straight into
Purgatory (Creek in Eden Prairie)...and it appears that the Don's
Tilting Days are numbered, even tho the horizon looks rather
tempting. This is the latest painting in a series subtitled The End of
a Long Winter or PAINTING WHERE I LIVE.
It is an ambitious work which challenged my patience to their
utmost limits. I DON'T ENJOY DOING SO MUCH DETAIL...
Watercolor on d'Arches Cold Pressed 150lb paper 18x24"

THANKS again. I'm a big fan of the Quixote.
I understand they've just discovered the remains
of Cervantes...in a church catacombs in Spain? Whoa!

I'm glad you find it acceptable. My particular
interest is my 2011-2012 quest to place 'stories'
in the area where I live. This lake (Staring) is like
Walden for me...a place of peace and escape.
So glad it works...THANKS!, Lhianne!!!

Peace to YOU too...

I'm glad you like this painting. It WAS rejected by
a W/C group...so THANKS. The landscape ~sans Wind
Generators, is near my home in Eden Prairie. Oddly, when
I saw 'DQ', my mind went to Dairy Queen!!! That's current
ad lingo having its effect on me. Thanks, Alan....

Kind regards: Dick Green

Amazingly done! The reflections on the water are amazing and flowing! And the different textures you applied are quite good!

Thanks Kaleb for having noticed my
Quixote piece. I usually shun detail, but
made an exception with this piece!

Thanks so much Yvette ! you've been such a great
supporter. I don't think I'll be doing anything quite
so detailed for a while. I always appreciate hearing
from you and wish you a pleasant Spring! It's about
60º F in Minneapolis right now, March 6th!!!!

I hear you about the detail. It's a great piece, though. The colours are fantastic and just the right amount of muted to make it dramatic without being too dark. And I can't fault your subject matter!

Thanks Merrilee. Perhaps the subject matter is
the best part of the painting. I just bit off more
subject matter that I was comfortable chewing. My
next W/C adventure will be more loose and "Let it
paint itself!

Thanks again...regards from

I love all the colors in this, the beautiful marbled blues and reds and browns. I especially love the ground/sand at the creek bank, and the reflections. Very lovely. (Also, it's a small world! Believe it or not, I know this creek!)

You're very welcome! One of my closest friends lives near Purgatory Creek (I always used to see it when driving along 62). The name stuck with me!
